Known as “the community within the community,” Full Circle has been on a quest to bring out the best in the youth (and adults) for over 12 years. The Director, Master Scott, and his trusted partner and friend, Master Powell, each have close to 30 years of martial arts experience. They have dedicated their lives to improving the quality of life through the teaching of martial discipline.

In February 1992, with only 12 students, Full Circle Martial Arts Academy started in the basement of Master Scott’s home. He and Master Powell set out on an unrelenting journey of using martial arts as a vehicle for change. To adequately address the specific needs in the community, their vision was to:
|
- re-establish a strong sense of family
- provide nutritional/fitness programs and health fairs to help promote a healthier lifestyle
- reach out to the local school system by volunteering their services and providing scholarships to qualifying students
- reach back and give to those less fortunate by sponsoring food and clothing drives
|
This Master Scott says, “is
what martial arts is truly about. Kicking and punching is just a small
piece of the pie.” In 1992 he envisioned this, believed it, conceived
it, and has truly achieved it. In 1994, Full Circle moved to Kettering
Plaza in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and in 1996 it moved to its present
location in Capitol Heights. In 2002, Full Circle was blessed with the
opportunity to open a second location in Glenn Dale, Maryland.

With the help of many dedicated Black Belts, parents and volunteers, Full Circle has become “the institution for change.” The youth continue to transform into leaders; the adults enjoy the unique family environment and quality time with their children; the fitness program is literally transforming its graduates into fit, |
healthy and vibrant individuals with new attitudes; and the T'ai Chi program is bringing back a sense of calm -- re-instilling balance and harmony to the community. What a vision! As Master Scott states, “We haven’t even scratched the surface!”
