• 1976 – Joined Lin’s Kung Fu School – Georgia, Avenue, Washington, D.C.
• 1978 – Began competing in national tournaments in the forms, weapons and fighting divisions
• 1979-87 – Member of the Shaolin Wu Shu Demonstration Team
• 1980 – Received 1st degree black belt. (Training included review of every open-hand form, weapons form and fighting taught since day one.)
• 1997 - Received "Melenga" credentials by Nganga Tolo-Naa
• 1981 – 1st place in Mid-Atlantic competition in weapons and open-hand forms
• 1981-84 – Rated Karate Review for 3 consecutive years for forms, weapons and fighting
• 1982 – Received 2nd degree black belt. (Training included daily conditioning -- running 3 miles, biking, 1000 kicks, iron palm (hand conditioning), 500 sit-ups and abstinence.)
• 1983 – Voted Instructor of the Year – Shaolin Wu Shu
• 1984-87 – Competed as a member of the Coors National Competition Fighting Team
• 1985 – Received 3rd degree black belt. (Internal arts training – Tai Chi and Chi Kung)
• Received 4th degree black belt. (Training entailed the training and coaching of blackbelts and those on the Black Belt Competition National Team.)
• 1990-92 – Training coach for Shaolin Wu Shu Black Belt Competition Team
• 1993 – Began Xing Xi training – an internal art, along with Chi Kung and meditation
• 2002 – Certified C.D.T. Instructor
• 2003 – Certified Tactical Boxing Instructor (under Tuhon Roberto Torres)
